cybele

Cybèle Wiren's was one of the first shows at New Zealand Fashion Week that made a lasting impression on us. Our feelings from the collection: urban nomads - futuristic, otherworldly, ethereal, yet down to earth, cultured and grounded. They were like the wise weathered women of different cultures, at times even like oracles or prophets.

Muted earthly tones layer and form soft humble silhouttes and cocoon-like hoods. These are finished with patent leather bustiers. Explosions of red or black gloss. Explosions of colour, movement, warmth and passion.

We particularly love the styling, daring in the sense that it is not pressured by the need to sell sex or skin, or any particular lifestyle at that. Sensible really.

Head-scarfes are such a practical & feminine thing - it`s about time they return to women in western societies too.
