It’s so often eye opening to see Chalayan’s shows - it’s setting off triggers in the rest of us. We think of the future and fashion -what might that mean? The reinvention of the link between fashion and technology is very tasty to me. If we take a moment from what is “now” and “here”, think of what could be in the future that could revolutionize the way we live.

Hussein chalayan is really not afraid to ask those open ended questions. He’s more of a designer and artist that’s really using fashion as a means of answering or facing, these questions for himself.

In the future, if clothing was as much as lasers - the manipulation of light to create the illusion of a fabric, illusion of a veil, -then -in that way wouldn't it be an illusion of being clothed? Isn’t that clothing for the sole purpose of creating an outwards perception? What about today? Are clothing ourselves too, only for the outwards perception?

It's moments like these that we are reminded of how fickle fashion can be. But also of the other aspects, - apart from the desire of an image, - the other parts of fashion that we love- that probably shouldn’t be healthily seperated.
